If your QR code is working but the NFC tap is not opening your review page, the NFC chip may need to be programmed manually.
This guide will show you how to add your review link to the NFC chip on your Digicue Review Plate using either an iPhone or Android phone.
Your NFC tap should open the same link as your QR code.
For example:
https://scan.digicue.com.au/claim/
Or, if Digicue has already provided your business review redirect link, use that exact link instead.
What You Need Before You Start
Before setting up the NFC tap, make sure you have:
- Your Digicue Review Plate
- Your business review link or Digicue redirect link
- A smartphone with NFC
- The NFC Tools app installed on your phone
You can use the NFC Tools app on both iPhone and Android to write a website link to a compatible NFC chip.
How to Set Up the NFC Tap Using iPhone
Most newer iPhones can read NFC tags automatically. However, to program the NFC chip, you will need to use an NFC writing app.
Step 1: Download the NFC Tools App
Open the App Store on your iPhone.
Search for:
NFC Tools
Download and install the app.
Step 2: Open NFC Tools
Open the NFC Tools app.
Tap:
Write
This section allows you to add a link and write it to the NFC chip.
Step 3: Add Your Review Link
Tap:
Add a record
Select:
URL / URI
Paste your google review link into the URL field.
Example:
https://scan.digicue.com.au/claim/
If you have been given a specific redirect link for your business, use that link instead.
Tap:
OK
or
Save
depending on what appears in the app.
Step 4: Write the Link to the NFC Chip
After adding the URL, tap:
Write
Now hold the top area of your iPhone close to the NFC tap area on your Digicue Review Plate.
The NFC chip is usually located behind the tap symbol or NFC area on the plate.
Hold your phone steady for a few seconds until the app confirms that the NFC tag has been written successfully.
Step 5: Test the NFC Tap
Close the NFC Tools app.
Unlock your iPhone and hold the top area of the phone close to the NFC tap area on the plate.
A notification should appear asking you to open the link.
Tap the notification and check that it opens the correct review page.
How to Set Up the NFC Tap Using Android
Most modern Android phones support NFC, but NFC may need to be switched on in your phone settings before programming the plate.
Step 1: Turn On NFC
Open your Android phone settings.
Search for:
NFC
Turn NFC on.
Depending on your phone, NFC may be found under:
Connected devices
Connections
More connection settings
Wireless & networks
The wording may vary depending on your Android device.
Step 2: Download the NFC Tools App
Open the Google Play Store.
Search for:
NFC Tools
Download and install the app.
Step 3: Open NFC Tools
Open the NFC Tools app.
Tap:
Write
Then tap:
Add a record
Step 4: Add Your Review Link
Select:
URL / URI
Paste your google review link into the URL field.
Example:
https://scan.digicue.com.au/claim/
If Digicue has provided a specific redirect link for your business, use that exact link instead.
Tap:
OK
or
Save
Step 5: Write the NFC Tag
Tap:
Write
Place the back of your Android phone directly over the NFC tap area on the Digicue Review Plate.
Hold your phone still until you see a success message in the app.
On many Android phones, the NFC reader is located near the centre or upper back of the phone, but this can vary depending on the model.
Step 6: Test the NFC Tap
Close the NFC Tools app.
Unlock your Android phone and tap it against the NFC area on the plate.
Your phone should detect the NFC chip and open the review link.
How to Find the NFC Area on the Plate
The NFC chip is usually located behind the tap symbol or marked NFC area on your Digicue Review Plate.
When writing or testing the NFC chip, slowly move your phone around the tap area until your phone detects it.
Try tapping your phone:
- Near the tap symbol on the plate
- On the top area of your iPhone
- On the back centre or upper back of your Android phone
- Directly over the NFC area of the plate
- Hold the phone still for a few seconds while scanning.
Troubleshooting: NFC Tap Not Working
The QR Code Works, But the NFC Tap Does Not
If the QR code opens the correct page but the NFC tap does not work, the QR redirect is most likely set up correctly, but the NFC chip may not have the correct link written to it.
Follow the steps above to write the same review link to the NFC chip.
The Phone Does Not Detect the NFC Chip
Try the following:
- Remove your phone case
- Make sure NFC is turned on if using Android
- Unlock your phone before tapping
- Move your phone slowly around the NFC area
- Hold the phone still for a few seconds
- Try another NFC-enabled phone if available
- Make sure you are tapping the NFC area, not the QR code
NFC Tools Says the Tag Cannot Be Written
This may happen if:
- The phone is not close enough to the NFC chip
- The wrong area of the plate is being scanned
- The phone does not support NFC writing
- The NFC chip is already locked
- The NFC chip is damaged
- Try again by moving the phone slightly around the NFC tap area.
- If possible, also try using another NFC-enabled phone.
The NFC Tap Opens the Wrong Link
Open NFC Tools and write the correct link again.
Make sure the full link is entered correctly, including:
https://
For example:
https://scan.digicue.com.au/claim/
After rewriting the NFC chip, test it again to confirm it opens the correct page.
iPhone Does Not Automatically Scan the NFC
If your iPhone does not scan the NFC chip straight away, try the following:
- Unlock your iPhone first
- Hold the top of the iPhone near the NFC area
- Remove your phone case
- Move the phone slowly around the NFC area
- Try scanning again after a few seconds
Some older iPhone models may have limited NFC scanning or may require an app to scan NFC tags.
Important Tip
After programming the NFC chip, always test both the QR code and the NFC tap.
Both should open the same review page.
If the QR code opens the correct page but the NFC tap does not, the issue is most likely with the NFC chip setup.
If neither the QR code nor the NFC tap opens the correct page, the review link or redirect may need to be checked.
